The Barsnout Goby (Elacatinus illecebrosus) is a nano goby found among shallow and mid-level reefs throughout the Atlantic Ocean. They have a black body with horizontal stripe, ranging in colors from yellow, blue and white. They spend the majority of their time hiding among rocks and coral, hiding from predators while scavenging for small crustaceans to feed on. They do well in peaceful reef aquariums and can be kept in small, nano tanks. They should be kept singly or in a bonded pair though, as males may be territorial towards one another. They reach a maximum size of 2 inches and should not be kept with larger, predatory fish.
