The Brown-Banded Bamboo Shark (Chiloscyllium punctatum) is a small reef-dwelling shark found in the waters of the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They are nocturnal hunters that feed on fish and crustaceans, and reach an average size of 30 inches long. They have a light brown body with dark brown bands from head to tail. As is true for many sharks, they require a stable environment, as they are very susceptible to fluctuations in water parameters. They should be kept with other large fish of similar size and temperament and should be fed a healthy diet of fish, squid and crustaceans regularly. Rough substrate can cause scratches or cuts, so a smooth or fine substrate is recommended. They should not be kept with smaller, prized fish or invertebrates.
