The Thread-finned Sea Perch (Symphorus nematophorus), also known as the Chinaman Fish, is a type of snapper found widespread throughout the Indo-Pacific Ocean. They have an orange or yellow colored body with horizontal blue stripes, as well as an elongated dorsal fin. They can be kept singly or in schools, though they require a large amount of space to swim. They are carnivorous, feeding on crustaceans and smaller fish. They may be kept in large reef systems, though they will inevitably predate on any small invertebrates. They reach a maximum size of 36 inches and should be kept in an aquarium of at least 300 gallons.
