The Indian Triggerfish (Melichthys indicus) can be found among reefs or rocky outcroppings in the Indian Ocean. They have a black body with pink or white streaks at the base of their fins, as well as white bands originating from their eyes that extend over most of their face. Juveniles typically hide among corals and rocks for shelter, while adults only hide when sleeping or scared. They may also use their dorsal and anal fin to cover themselves with sand. They feed on benthic invertebrates, including crustaceans, worms and sea urchins, as well as occasional sea weed or algae. They reach a maximum size of 9 inches and should be house in an aquarium of at least 120 gallons with fish of similar size and temperament.
