The Spiny Star Astrea Snail, Astraea phoebia, is a star-shaped snail that looks awesome in any home aquarium. Its sharp spikes can resemble the sun or a crown in shape. It is a peaceful snail but should not be housed with aggressive tankmates that may attack it. The Spiny Star Astrea Snail is an excellent algae eater, including hairy algae. They should be kept in an established reef tank that naturally produces algae for consumption, if not they can be supplementally fed. The Spiny Star Astrea cannot tolerate high nitrate levels and it is recommended to drip acclimate in preparation for addition into the tank. Easy to care for, beneficial, and awesome-looking...you cannot go wrong with this snail.
