Max Size: 3 Inches
The Red Tuxedo Urchin, Mespilia sp has a round or oval body covered in hundreds of uniformed spines used for protection. A nocturnal scavenger it will spend most of its time during the day hiding in rocks, crevices, or under substrate. Suring the night this urchin will emerge to graze on algae. Tuxedo Urchins are generally a solitary animal but can do well in small groups if the tank is large enough to provide enough algae to eat. Typically a very hardy invertebrate, they are very sensitive to poor water quality and any copper based medications.

These are the best urchins for any aquarium from a nano to 500+ gallons. They stay pretty small, and don’t knock over your frags like many others do. They’re the most beautiful urchins in my opinion, and are RAVENOUS algae eaters.
